PU-covered braided PTFE hose JCC-61100: PTFE tube, stainless steel braid and black PU jacket. Jingcheng product photo; fittings are made to order.

JCC-61100 is our smooth bore PTFE hose with a 304 stainless steel braid and a smooth polyurethane jacket over the top, supplied in black, red or blue. The PTFE core does the chemical work, the braid carries the pressure, and the jacket covers the braid so it does not chafe, shed wire or collect product on the outside of the line.

Overview

Three layers, in order from the inside: a smooth PTFE tube, a single 304 stainless steel braid wound over it, and a smooth polyurethane jacket extruded over the braid. The bore is unchanged from our plain braided hose, so flow and cleaning behave the same way. What the jacket adds is a closed outer surface.

The problem it solves is an old one. A bare stainless braid is a wire mesh, and wire mesh does three things in a plant. It abrades whatever it rubs against, it traps dust, overspray and product between the wires, and it can fret through at a clamp or a bulkhead pass-through after a few million cycles. On a paint or adhesive line the trapped product then cures on the braid, and the hose becomes a cleaning problem as well as a wear problem. A PU jacket takes all three out of play: the outside is one smooth tube, it wipes down, and there is no wire on the outside to wear through.

It is the wrong choice in three situations. If the hose runs against hot surfaces, the jacket is the first layer to wear — see temperature and pressure notes. If the jacket will be dragged over sharp edges or repeatedly crushed, PU is a wear layer, not armour. And if weight and flexibility matter more than a clean exterior, the aramid-braided hose is lighter for the same bore.

Materials and construction

  • Inner tube: smooth PTFE. Strong chemical and solvent resistance, low friction, no corrugation to trap product. Same core as the plain smooth bore tube, so bore cleanliness and pressure drop are unchanged.
  • Reinforcement: one layer of high-strength 304 stainless steel braided wire, wound directly over the tube. This is the layer that carries the working and burst pressure.
  • Outer jacket: smooth polyurethane, in black, red or blue. It is a sheath, not a pressure layer: it protects the braid from abrasion and keeps the outside clean and wipeable.
  • Colour: the three jacket colours are the catalog options. If you line-code by colour in your plant, tell us which colour goes with which service at the order stage.
  • End connections: not part of the catalog sizes. Send the threads, flanges or fittings on the equipment and the assembly is specified per order.

Temperature and pressure notes

The catalog rates JCC-61100 at −70 to +260 °C (−94 to +500 °F), the same range as the other braided PTFE series. Keep the jacket away from hot surfaces and sharp edges, since it is the outer wear layer.

Working pressure falls with bore, as the table shows, because a larger diameter puts more area under the same internal pressure. Rated pressure at 20 °C is also not the number to design to at elevated temperature; derating a polymer hose as temperature rises is standard practice, and how much depends on the medium, the cycle count and the service life you expect. Send the temperature and pressure and the rating is confirmed in writing with the quotation.

Two points worth checking on any high-pressure order: whether the line sees water hammer or pump pulsation (impulse duty is harsher than a static rating implies), and whether the jacket will be clamped. If the hose is clamped hard, a sleeve or a softer clamp around the PU jacket avoids pinching it against the braid.

Applications

The catalog lists this build for:

  • Pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics and beverage lines
  • Viscous media such as paint and adhesive
  • Corrosive chemical fluid transfer
  • High-temperature hydraulic and pneumatic applications

In practice the jacket is why it gets picked for the first two. A clean, smooth, wipeable outer surface is easier to justify in a washdown or a paint booth than a bare braid, and there is no wire mesh to hold cured adhesive or overspray. For chemical service the core is the same PTFE as our other braided builds, so check the medium against PTFE first and treat the jacket as a mechanical protection layer.

How to order

Send these points and we can quote without a second round of email:

  1. Bore in mm or inches, and the nominal size if you know it.
  2. Length per piece and the number of pieces.
  3. End fittings at each end: thread standard and size, flange or compression fitting, with a photo or part number if you have one.
  4. Medium and concentration, so the PTFE compatibility check is on record.
  5. Operating temperature, including cleaning or steam-in-place peaks.
  6. Working and peak pressure, and whether the line runs under vacuum or sees pulsation.
  7. Jacket colour, if your plant codes lines by colour.
  8. Quantity for the first order and expected annual use.

If a drawing already exists, send it. We work to the customer's drawing when one is supplied.

Frequently asked questions

What is the temperature range of JCC-61100?

The catalog rates JCC-61100 at −70 to +260 °C (−94 to +500 °F).

Can the jacket be replaced or repaired?

No. The PU jacket is extruded over the braid during manufacture and is not a slip-on sleeve, so a damaged jacket means a new hose. That is why the routing matters: keep the jacket off sharp edges and hot surfaces, and use a protective sleeve at clamp points rather than relying on the jacket as a wear part.

Does the jacket reduce the working pressure?

No. Pressure is carried by the 304 braid; the jacket is a protective layer outside it. The ratings in the table are the hose ratings, and the jacket does not change them.

How is this different from the single-braid hose JCC-01100?

Same smooth PTFE core and the same single 304 braid. JCC-61100 adds a smooth PU jacket on the outside, which makes the hose slightly larger in outside diameter and a little stiffer, and gives you a clean wipeable surface. If the line never rubs anything and the bare braid is acceptable in your plant, JCC-01100 is the simpler choice.

Can I get a custom colour or a custom bore?

The catalog lists black, red and blue for the jacket. Other colours and sizes outside the table are made to your drawing on request; send the dimensions and the end connection details and we will confirm what is practical before quoting.
