Convoluted braided PTFE hose JCC-11100: corrugated PTFE tube under a stainless steel braid
Convoluted braided PTFE hose JCC-11100: corrugated PTFE tube under a stainless steel braid. Jingcheng product photo; fittings are made to order.

JCC-11100 is the convoluted PTFE hose with a stainless braid over it: a PTFE tube corrugated on the inner and outer wall, sleeved in one layer of high-strength 304 stainless steel braid. The corrugation buys bend radius; the braid converts a floppy corrugated tube into something that will hold pressure without ballooning or kinking at the bend.

  • Temperature−70 to +200 °C / −94 to +392 °F
  • Bore5.8–50 mm (1/4"–2")
  • Working pressure13.8 → 3.1 MPa by size
  • Bend radius10–200 mm

Overview

Take the corrugated PTFE tube we make as JCC-10000 and braid it with 304 stainless steel wire and you get this series. The inner wall is corrugated too, so the assembly is one PTFE piece end to end: there is no smooth liner pushed inside a ribbed shell, and nothing to delaminate.

The corrugation is what makes it flexible. A 1/2" size bends to a 25 mm radius, and the 2" to 200 mm — numbers no smooth bore tube of the same bore can reach. The braid is what makes it usable on a pressurised line: 13.8 MPa at 1/4" falling to 3.1 MPa at 2", with the braid taking the hoop load and the corrugated core just keeping the medium in.

Two honest limits. First, the corrugated bore holds a little product when the line drains and adds a small pressure drop versus a smooth tube; if your process depends on a swab or a flush leaving the bore perfectly dry, the smooth bore build is the cleaner choice. Second, the catalog tops out at 200 °C for this series, while the unbraided convoluted tube is listed to 260 °C. We quote the lower figure for the braided build and confirm the operating temperature with you.

Materials and construction

  • Core: PTFE tube corrugated on the inner and outer wall, natural finish. The medium only ever touches PTFE.
  • Reinforcement: one layer of high-strength 304 stainless steel braid over the full length. This is what carries the working pressure.
  • Bore profile: helical corrugation, not a smooth cylinder. Expect a slightly higher pressure drop than smooth bore and a small residue when the line is drained.
  • End connections: not part of the catalog sizes. Crimped or reusable fittings are specified per order against the thread, flange or clamp on your equipment.

Temperature and pressure notes

The catalog range for this series is −70 to +200 °C (−94 to +392 °F). The unbraided convoluted tube is catalogued higher, so the difference sits with the braided assembly rather than the PTFE tube; we work to the 200 °C figure for JCC-11100 unless a specific test supports more.

The pressure figures are catalog ratings at ambient temperature. Reducing allowable pressure as temperature rises is standard practice for polymer hose, and at 150–200 °C the working pressure you can design to is lower than the table value. We do not publish a derating curve here because it depends on medium, cycle count and service life target; send the real operating temperature and pressure and the rating is confirmed in writing with the quotation.

If the line sees vacuum, pump pulsation or water hammer, tell us. A braided corrugated build is far more forgiving than an unbraided tube, but the vacuum rating still has to be stated per size rather than assumed from the pressure column.

Applications

The catalog lists this series for three industries:

  • Pharmaceutical — transfer lines where the bore must be cleanable and the routing is tight
  • Food — product and cleaning lines on skids with limited space
  • Chemical — corrosive media at moderate pressure

In practice it gets specified where a smooth braided hose will not make the bend without a kink: around pumps, through skid frames, into and out of small tanks. If the run is straight and the priority is flow, use smooth bore instead.

How to order

Send these points and the quotation can be built without another round of email:

  1. Bore in mm or inches, and the nominal size if you already know it.
  2. Length per piece and the number of pieces.
  3. End fittings at each end: thread standard and size, flange, or clamp, with a photo or part number if you have one.
  4. Medium and its concentration.
  5. Operating temperature, including cleaning or steam-in-place peaks.
  6. Working and peak pressure, and whether the line ever runs under vacuum.
  7. Bend radius the installation actually needs, measured on the routing drawing if one exists.
  8. Quantity for the first order and the expected annual use.

Frequently asked questions

What is a convoluted braided PTFE hose?

A PTFE tube with ring-shaped corrugations formed into both the inner and outer wall, covered by one layer of 304 stainless steel braid. The corrugation gives it a tight bend radius; the braid lets it hold pressure. It is one PTFE piece through the wall, not a liner inside a rubber or metal hose.

How does it differ from the unbraided convoluted hose?

Same corrugated core, no braid. Without the braid the tube is very flexible but carries very little pressure — our JCC-10000 is rated 0.4 to 0.2 MPa. The braid takes this series to 13.8 to 3.1 MPa. The unbraided version is also catalogued to a higher temperature, because there is no steel braid in contact with the heat.

Why does the working pressure fall so much as the size grows?

Geometry. A larger bore exposes more wall area to the same internal pressure, so the braid has more load to carry per unit of wire. Every braided series behaves this way; the fall from 13.8 MPa at 1/4" to 3.1 MPa at 2" is normal, not a defect in the build.

Is the burst figure four times the working pressure?

In the catalog table it is exactly four times in every row. Treat that as a safety factor built into the published figures rather than a tested burst value — we do not present it as an operating target. Design to the working pressure and confirm the margin you need with us.

Can I clean it in place?

The bore is corrugated, so a pig or swab does not wipe it perfectly clean the way it would a smooth tube. Flushing and CIP work, but if your cleaning validation depends on a dry, residue-free bore, the smooth bore braided hose is the safer specification.

Can I get a custom length or a different corrugation?

Lengths are cut per order and sizes outside the table are made to drawing on request. Send the dimensions and the end connection details and we will confirm what is practical before quoting.
