JCH is the extruder connection hose from our electrically heated range: the flexible, heated material connection on extrusion equipment, extruders and line-marking machines. Maximum use temperature is 250 °C (482 °F), and the hose withstands up to 35 MPa at 250 °C. The catalog lists five bores from 3/8" to 1", and every unit is built to the connection on the machine it serves.

Overview
The problem on an extruder connection is not usually the extruder. It is the last metre: polymer cooling in the line between the die or the melt filter and the point where it is used, so the first part after a stop comes out with a cold slug or a visible weld line, and the operator purges until it clears. On a line-marking machine the same thing shows up as a bead that starts thin and ragged at the beginning of every stroke.
The heating layer is the answer to that, and this hose builds it the way the catalog describes: heating elements braided uniformly around the inner tube rather than wound as a single helix, so the heat input is even along the length and the temperature difference along the inner wall stays small. The insulation is chosen for high thermal efficiency with the surface temperature in mind, which is what you want when the hose runs close to a frame or through a guarded opening.
What makes this series different from a general heated hose is the pressure side. The catalog rates it to 35 MPa at 250 °C: this is a high-temperature, high-pressure connection, not a warm-up jacket on a low-pressure line. It is the right part when the extrusion equipment pushes viscous material through a small bore at temperature. If your line runs at modest pressure and the medium is easy, a lighter heated hose is cheaper and easier to route.
Two things to plan before you order. The minimum bend radius of the finished assembly is 0.2 m, a 0.4 m bend diameter; route it before the order, not after. And do not twist the hose laterally during or after installation – a twisted hose pulls at the crimp every time the line heats and cools.

Materials and construction
- Inner tube: specified on the order form as B stainless corrugated tube, TB PTFE hose with stainless braid, T PTFE hose or X special material. Tell us the medium and the temperature and the tube follows from that.
- Heating layer: heating elements braided uniformly around the hose, which keeps the temperature difference along the inner wall small and avoids the hot stripe you get from a single wound element.
- Sensor: a temperature sensor in the assembly, matched to your controller. Type J or K, Ni120, PT100 or PT1000, agreed on the drawing.
- Insulation and cover: high-insulation-efficiency material selected with surface temperature in mind, under the blue outer cover shown in the photo.
- End fittings: metal hex fittings with black over-moulded collars, thread standard and size per end from the order form. The leads exit at the collar and are taped back along the hose for shipment.
Temperature and pressure notes
The catalog leads this series at 250 °C (482 °F) and quotes 35 MPa at that temperature. The same page's feature box prints heat resistance up to 230 °C (446 °F) with higher temperature on request, so the number we build to is the setpoint you actually run: tell us the melt temperature and the highest transient, and the hose and controller are matched to it.
35 MPa is a class, not a per-size rating. The table gives the working pressure per bore – 110 bar at 3/8", 88 bar at 1/2", 57.5 bar at 1" – with burst pressure four times working. Read the row for your bore rather than the headline, and design the line to that number. Pressure capacity falls as temperature rises, which is normal for a polymer-lined assembly, and the medium matters: a filled compound is harder on the bore than a clean melt.
On the mechanical side, keep to the 0.2 m assembly bend radius, do not twist the hose laterally during or after installation, and keep the ambient inside −40 to +55 °C (−40 to 131 °F) with relative humidity at or below 85 %. The surroundings must be free of gases that corrode metal or damage insulation and of conductive media; anything outside that is a custom build.
Applications
The catalog application is the flexible material connection on all kinds of extrusion equipment, extruders and line-marking machines. In practice that means:
- The heated connection between an extruder or melt filter and the die or downstream tooling
- Material feed lines on line-marking machines, where the bead has to stay hot between strokes
- Lines where a viscous compound must not cool and thicken in the last metre before it is used
- Retrofits where a machine's original heated connection has failed or the process temperature has been raised
We supply domestic extruder manufacturers on a long-term basis, and the same builds go to end users running imported equipment. If the line is low pressure and the route is tight, a low-pressure heated hose is the better and cheaper choice.

How to order
A JCH part number carries the main choices, so the fastest way to order is to quote one. The catalog example is JCH-200-16-B-3X220-P2-8-N:
- 200 – working temperature in °C. 200 means 200 °C.
- 16 – inner tube bore in mm. 16 means Φ16 mm.
- Inner tube letter – B is a stainless corrugated tube, TB is PTFE hose with stainless braid, T is a PTFE hose, X is a special material.
- Supply – 220 means 220 V, 3X220 means three-phase four-wire 220 V.
- Sensor code – P2 is PT100 two-wire, P3 is PT100 three-wire, K is type K, J is type J, W is no sensor, T is a special sensor.
- Pressure – working pressure in MPa. 8 means 8 MPa.
If you do not have a part number, send these instead:
- Machine type and where the hose connects, with the bore and length you need.
- Medium: resin, adhesive, marking compound or other, and its working temperature.
- Working pressure and the highest transient you expect.
- Supply voltage and the controller the hose plugs into.
- Sensor type and wiring, if the machine dictates it.
- End fittings at each end: thread standard, size, angle, with a photo or part number if you have one.
- Rated power per metre if your controller sets it, and the ambient conditions on site.
If a drawing exists, send it. We propose the specification against it, you confirm it with the quotation, and production follows the confirmed specification.
Frequently asked questions
What is an extruder heated hose?
A heated, insulated connection hose for the material line on extrusion equipment, extruders and line-marking machines. It keeps the material at temperature over the last stretch between the machine and the point of use, so it does not cool and thicken in the line. It is built to the machine's connection rather than chosen from a shelf.
What temperature does it run at?
The catalog gives a maximum use temperature of 250 °C (482 °F) for this series and quotes 35 MPa at that temperature; the feature box on the same page prints heat resistance up to 230 °C (446 °F) with higher temperature on request. Give us the setpoint you actually run at and the hose is built around it – a hose running a little below its limit lasts longer.
How much pressure can I put through it?
The series is rated to withstand 35 MPa at 250 °C. For a given bore, use the per-size table: 110 bar working at 3/8", 88 bar at 1/2", 70 bar at 5/8", 65 bar at 3/4" and 57.5 bar at 1", each with burst at four times working. Your allowable pressure is confirmed on the quotation drawing for the assembly.
Will it fit my extruder?
If you send the connection details: thread standard and size at each end, plus a photo or part number if you have one. Ends are specified separately and made to order, so an imported machine with an unusual thread is not a problem. Also check the route: the assembly needs a 0.2 m minimum bend radius.
Can I use my existing controller?
Yes, if we know its sensor input and output type before the build. The catalog lists type J and type K thermocouples, Ni120, PT100 and PT1000 sensors, with PID control and SSR or thyristor output. Send the controller model or a photo of its label.
What do the leads look like on delivery?
As in the photo: they exit at the black collar near the fitting and are taped back along the hose. The pin-out for the controller end and the machine end is confirmed on the drawing before production, including wire colours and functions.
